ARC Raiders: Is the Lightweight Stock Any Good?

Message par Dandelion »

What is the Lightweight Stock?

The Lightweight Stock is an epic weapon modification designed to improve aim-down-sights (ADS) speed and weapon draw speed. In practice, it makes your weapon faster to bring up and easier to aim quickly, which can help in fast-paced combat or close-range encounters.

Here’s the breakdown of its stats:

200% increased ADS speed – you aim down sights much faster.

30% reduced equip time – switching to this weapon is quicker.

30% reduced unequip time – putting the weapon away is also faster.

50% increased vertical recoil – your shots will kick up more.

50% increased recoil recovery time – it takes longer to reset your aim after firing.

It’s compatible with a wide variety of weapons, including Ferro, Kettle, Rattler, Stitcher, Arpeggio, Il Toro, Osprey, Renegade, Torrente, Bettina, Bobcat, Hullcracker, Tempest, Vulcano, and Aphelion. Essentially, if it’s a rifle or SMG, there’s a good chance you can use it.

How Does It Work in Practice?

The Lightweight Stock’s main benefit is speed. When you’re moving around tight corridors or switching targets, every fraction of a second counts. Faster ADS and equip times mean:

You can peek corners more efficiently without exposing yourself for long.

Target acquisition is faster in firefights.

Weapon swapping during fights is smoother, letting you switch between long-range and short-range weapons without losing momentum.

The trade-off is recoil. Increased vertical recoil and slower recovery mean that sustained fire becomes harder to control, especially on automatic weapons. Most experienced players use this stock on weapons where single shots or short bursts are common. Full-auto spray might feel awkward.

In other words, it’s a speed vs. control trade-off. If your playstyle favors fast engagements and mobility, it’s a solid choice. If you rely on accuracy at medium to long range, you might notice the recoil more than you like.

How to Get It

There are a few ways to obtain the Lightweight Stock:

Scavenging – sometimes you’ll find it in loot drops, but it’s not guaranteed.

Crafting – this requires some planning. You need:

2× Mod Components

5× Duct Tape

Gunsmith 3 level

Lightweight Stock Blueprint

Crafting it is fairly straightforward if you already have the blueprint and components. For players looking to trade ARC Raiders blueprints easily on U4N, this is a good blueprint to pick up early since it’s popular and in demand.

Recycling and Salvaging

If you decide the Lightweight Stock isn’t for you, it’s easy to recover materials:

Recycling gives you back 1 Mod Component and 1 Duct Tape.

Salvaging gives you 2 Mechanical Components.

This makes it low-risk to experiment. You won’t lose much if you try it out and decide to switch to another stock mod.

When Should You Use the Lightweight Stock?

From my experience, the Lightweight Stock works best in these situations:

Close-quarters combat: Tight maps, fast rotations, and flanking routes benefit from quicker ADS and draw times.

Weapons with low recoil: Some rifles and SMGs handle the extra vertical kick better.

Hit-and-run playstyle: If you rely on fast positioning and dodging, the speed boost is more valuable than the added recoil.

Avoid it if:

You play long-range sniper-style weapons, where recoil control is critical.

You prefer full-auto sustained fire, especially on high-recoil guns.

How it Compares to Other Stocks

There are other stock mods in ARC Raiders:

Standard Stock – no major bonuses, but balanced recoil.

Heavy Stock – reduces recoil but slows ADS and weapon swapping.

Lightweight Stock – prioritizes speed over control.

The choice really depends on your combat style. I often keep two builds ready: one with Lightweight Stock for aggressive maps and another with a Heavy Stock for maps requiring mid-range control.

The Lightweight Stock is good if your focus is speed and mobility. It shines in situations where every millisecond matters, but the recoil penalty means it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. If you’re testing builds or want a stock for fast-paced engagements, it’s worth crafting and trying. Just be mindful of the trade-off and pick your weapon accordingly.

Because it’s easy to trade ARC Raiders blueprints easily on U4N, you can often experiment without committing all your resources.
